Heh ... I´ve bought it here in Slovakia , it is 940 x 635 x 15 mm ... price ca 20,33 € . I´ve found maximum 30mm strong (41,29 € ) , or a block of 320 x 100 x 650 mm (38,29 €)

cork mixed to 0,5-1mm was ca 3€/kg

I hope similar cork shops are in your country too

Yes , it is problem if you do not clean it. You can easily put pull-in big amount of water all the tube ... and circulate it there (with no spray in chamber - physics). That is how you can clean that pipe.

I think it is good to make after all feeding , not to mold that pipe inside.

Re: Project Stormhold [Formicary for Lasius fuliginosus ][EN]

I think it is good to see a colony now , when is young. When there will be hundreats of ants , it is good when they dig their own nest , because only they know how to make it good (we can just learn from them). Now I need to see queen and workers and brood how it develope , later I do not need - hop...

Hello, I have decided to make a little bit experimental "prototype" nest. Same , like my previous topic "Stormhold" this is same new to me. Please do not hate me - I like to call my own formicaries by project names :) I thought , how to keep ant species which almost all of their ...

Project Stormhold [Formicary for L.fuliginosus][EN]

Hello everyone, for a longer time I have not visited this forum , but last month I had more time for ant keeping and study ants - and it just means that I have created some formicaries and still working on some. I always say , we all as ant keeping community need to improve and test many unusual kin...

Re: Prenolepis nitens

My queens has larvae at the moment and they are doing very well! I´ve discovered that they prefer to estamblish colony on its own - workers do not do anything bad , but I think that in some samples eggs has been eaten (probably by these workers..) , so in the future , if I would make an colony , pr...

Hello, I´ve made this topic just for share a bit of my knowledge with this community, so not a blog or somethink else. You probably read a name of this ant species first time. Re: Skippy - Australian Oecophylla smaragdina

Today and yesterday I had a time for testing and HD video recording of ants. However HD video is very huge (pwnd 170MB/1min) , I just converted it to .avi and uploaded it on youtube - so it is not so good there :) I wish to make an documentary film about ant-keeping this year in HD , probably done a...

Re: Project Dakara for Pogonomyrmex

Ants are in and they really enjoy it. They grabbed sand from arena and they´ve put it into nest on glass - however it is a bit wet I can´t see well. However they have full stomach and also like to hunt Drosophila in arena :) I usually move ants by bridge ... ... I will probably stop to heat it and...

I am not sure if I understand so well :) ... but yesterday I added there one small Formica rufibarbis colony in tube , and they moved into plaster/corked tube in ca 3 hours with no light. They are actually after hibernation , I think there will be eggs in 2 weeks , then it will show how useful or ea...

Re: Project Dakara for Pogonomyrmex

It is very simple. Same effect like is used in mrowkoyad acryllic formicary. Point of this all is in watering bottom chambers. You know , in nature are also wet only bottom chambers and on top are dry. Second think is about power of construction. You can´t do this all by plaster - ants will destroy...

Re: Oecophylla smaragdina (Austalie) (mn)

In terarium like this is better to use "coco husk" what you can buy in aquaterra shop in your town (in Slovakia cca 2€/brick = cca 6-8 litres). It better keep water in like sponge. When "turf" soil will dry one time , it worse safe water after (same like plaster). There is also...
